I paint in a style I refer to as neo-atavistic realism, recreating imagined scenes of daily life in the ancient world, often incorporating familiar objects and themes from the present to create a juxtaposition of time and values in my socially satirical work. I'm inspired by myriad cultures, particularly those of the Pre-Columbian and Oceanic peoples, as well as old horror and sci-fi movies, I can usually be found in my palatial shoebox of a studio, located in rural Virginia, looking at reference material, watching TV, sleeping, entertaining guests, thrashing around on the floor, and yes, at times, actually painting.
